1. When & how did Morphine form?
Morphine started to shape up in 2008. All of us were individual music enthusiasts and part of different bands. We came together in VNIT, Nagpur and we clicked instantly. That's how Morphine came into being.
2. How did you come up with the name "Morphine" ?
Morphine, as you know, is the name of popular pain reliever. So is our Music! (laughs Aditya) . We play all kinds of music - and we hope to soothe audience with our music.
3. Is there any particular genre of music that you make/play ? or is it mostly whatever you feel like ?
There is no particular genre. We all like different kinds of music and we do lot of experimentation. We have few original compositions too.
4. Where have you performed in Nagpur ? And any performances outside Nagpur ?
We have performed in most of Engineering Colleges in Nagpur. Aarohi fest in VNIT - YCCE, RKNEC, KITS Ramtek , Deshpande Hall in Jan 2009. We are also planning to go to Rendezvous in IIT Delhi. We have performed individually at various pubs & Cafes. We look forward to perform as a band now in Nagpur Pubs & Cafes.
5. Awards , Memorable moments , Disappointments , Goof ups?
"We got 2nd Prize in YCCE & RKNEC" says Sanket , with a beam of pride . Aditya's got best drummer award in RKNEC. Each performance has been memorable for us. Losing the first prize by one point in RKNEC was a big disappointment.
During our Aarohi Prelims, there was a goof up where we got out of sync and each one was playing to his own tune! Fortunately we got back on track soon!
6. What binds all of you together ?
Music ( in chorus ). All of us are music fanatics. We have different tastes in music - but still we are able to come together on a platform & gel well. We practise almost daily. And thanks to Morphine , we have a great friendship & camaraderie among us."For me ", says Aditya , "Four of my best friends are in this band and I hope it is the same for others too" and everyone breaks into a laughter.
7. How is the environment for rock band in Nagpur ? What change, if any, would you like to see among the Nagpur audience ?
Nagpur audience is more inclined towards Pop & Hip Hop. Rock takes a back seat. So we would like more & more people to take up rock music. Listen & get drowned in rock! We would like people to listen to any form of performing music.
8. What is your message to aspiring rock bands in Nagpur ?
Hitanjan , who till now was silent quips " Talk less & Do more Music " . Concentrate on Music. Get your basics right & you will surely be successful.
