What are you doing Akki ?

First and the foremost thing about the film is, the audience wont believe the fact that the man behind this film is the same who has given us quality cinema like Hyderabad Blues(Nagesh Kukunoor's debut as a Director), Rockford and Iqbal.

In '8x10 Tasveer' Nagesh has proved his incapability to direct suspense thrillers. His previous two films Dor and Bombay to Bangkok were disasters commercially as well as critically. So this is a hatrick for him.

The main villain of the movie is its dull and pathetic screenplay, Nagesh who is also the writer of the film, turns to be a bad story teller this time.
Nagesh, what made you make such an untolerable movie? Were you forced or blackmailed to do your worst work till date ?

In the opening sequence of the movie Akki jumps from a 200 feet hill into a reservoir, this scene was shot and captured superbly but linked very poorly to the script. This stunt(no doubt performed by the Kumar himself) was not required at all, but it was just another portrayal of Akshay's stuntman-giri that we have witnessed all these years.

So Fear Factor ends and the movie starts.

Jai[Akshay Kumar], who is a Canadian forest ranger working for a firm EPS, has a super natural power within himself to see the past. But his power has a limitation(I dont know why), by looking at a photograph, he can see what happenned just one minute before the snap was clicked. Now the audience are left with no clue, as no reasons for Jai's 1 minute limitation has been provided by the director.

The film is full of uncertainties and illogical events revolved around Jai's father's[Benjamin Gilani] murder mystery. Throughout the movie Jai tries to trace is fathers killer, through a picture which was clicked just a minute before his death(GOD is great).

The biggest blow for the audience comes when the killer is identified , which forced me to ask myself the only qusetion,"Was I sitting through 90 minutes of the film to watch such a crap ?"

Definitely this is not the first time such a story is narrated, where the motive of the murders ought to be MONEY, so innovative Nagesh, isnt it ?

The running time of the movie is almost two hours. The movie is placed very slowly in the first hour, which is also the major setback. Such kind of films should have sit-on-the-edge kind of impact.Though the post interval 20-25 minutes are gripping, it is just the technical soundness of the director.

But surprisingly there are even couple of pluses, but they arent effective enough to save this movie.

The cinematography by Vikas Sivaraman is first rate, the breath taking locales of Canada and South Africa are a treat to the eyes. The background score by Salim-Sulaiman is actually the heart of the movie, right sound at right place, they havent missed a single beat.

The best part of the movie is Habibulla Paasha played by Javed Jaffery who is detective of Hyderbad orgin. his Hyderabi accent makes you happy and definitely helps the audience to forget the question that revolves in the mind - what the hell made me to come to this movie ?
He wipes anything and everything that touches his body with a hanky, this act looks very hillarious and also provides quality humour throughout the film.

Coming to Ayesha Takia, she looks very ordinary with a couple of pimples to add to her ignorance.(make-up-DADA run for your life). Ayesha looks exhausted and uninterested(same as the viewers) throughout the film.

The rest of the supporting cast, Sharmila Tagore, Girish Karnad, Benjamin Gilani, Ananth Mahadevan and Rushaad Rana seem to be paid to underperform.

On the whole '8x10 Tasveer' has definitely gone out of focus. This film is a big disaster, second in a row for Akshay and third for Nagesh Kukunoor.

Akshay, you should not be overconfident because you have several hits in a row, you are not Aamir to do a Gajhini.

Aamir's short term memory loss worked his way to make the biggest blockbuster of 2009, but Akshay's problem of gaining some extra memory has gone against '8x10 Tasveer'.

After seeing this movie the audience will definitely UNBUTTON Akshay.

Please do not waste your time and money in watching '8x10', Akshay Kumar fans may watch his earlier flicks(Namaste London,Welcome or Singh is Kingh) instead of getting disappointed.

Collections for the first 3 days were as less 40%, making the film a big flop in almost all the circuits. This film is neither meant for multiplexes nor the small centers.
